Welcome to Zest! You are one of the 2830+ amazing people who have viewed this page!
This ride is now dedicated to the Cardiff High School maths department. Zest - Squeezed 1.5 has landed! All download links here have been fixed and updated to Squeezed 1.5 specifications:- Full list of fiddles and fixes for Zest – Squeezed 1.5 • Re-organisation of all scenery objects to stop the track packager creating the odd desktop directory. • Bitwise optimization of all textures. • Improved jpeg compression on all textures. • Removal of all 3rd party trees except the main palm, to reduce objects with a sky high polygon count which was previously dragging frame-rates down. • Removal of older fruit 3DS objects which did not use ‘smooth’ textures. • Addition of a wider range of smoothed fruit 3DS objects. • Addition of bunches of fruit to several supports. • Addition of bunches of fruit to the main palm. • Removal of mid course block break-run. • Addition of mid course break-run. • Addition of end course block break-run within station compound. • Resizing of stations 1 and 2. • Addition of wooden barrier to end course break-run station platform area, clearly directing guests thus from the re-sized/positioned station 2 towards the exit. • Re-sizing of Zest Lamps in Queue line. • Slight change in joke order, but nothing major. • Additions of post chain fly wheels to build up train speed into first half-loop. • Re-positioning of chain lift to bring cars to rest with easier access to upper evacuation platform. • Re-modelling of all ladders to include smoothing and continuous sides, thus hiding the different sections of rungs. What has not been done:- • Removal of fly-wheels on lift and replacement with chain as suggested by some as a more realistic method of lifting, and this would thus remove the method of segment completion which allows the car to always come to rest in an evacuation position. On a ride such as G-Force I am informed that the humpty dumpty chain lift automatically returns the car to the start of the lift in a F12 (emergency stop) situation. I think we have to accept the limitations of the No-Limits simulation in that you’ll either end up stopped upside down and complain about that because the Simulation won’t reverse you back to the rotating track segment, or you’ll have a situation that would not pass safety regulations because the fly wheels don’t come to an immediate stop. In this catch 22 situation, and with time running short, I’ve left the fly-wheels and forced segment completion in place. • Any track smoothing to sort out the pumping problems. This update wasn’t really intended to sort these things out, and knew I wouldn’t have enough time to do things properly. I’m sure a lot of people will have more time on their hands than I will over the next few months so I would welcome anyone who feels the urge to do some track-work and see how much of an improvement you can make. You have my permission to upload such a track here in this thread and take full credit for the work you have done. If you are going to do it, try and make a decent job of the whole thing. No attempt is probably more use that a really half hearted one. • There has been no upgrade to the “human” model contained in the track yet. • There has been no upgrade to the gear and rope 3DS objects which continue to look amateur. Anyway, enjoy riding Zest with better frame rates and scenery than ever before – no theme comes close to being half as much fantastic fruity fun for all the family! Big thanks to CoasterSims for awarding the orginal Zest with Bronze, I am deeply honoured, and so is the Zesty beast himself! All comments were very helpful, and I'm pleased that the concept of the Zest layout went down especially well. It's a pity I can't act upon any of the comments due to my current work commitments, but I will release an optimised version of Zest later this year. =================================== TRACK DOWNLOAD OPTIONS: =================================== 1: SLIMLINE: INCLUDES:- * No Limits Track Packager File * Readme File * Bonus Zest Desktop Wallpaper http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/download.php?id=140305 2: FULL ZEST PACKAGE: INCLUDES: * No Limits Track Packager File * Readme File * Zest Screenshot archive * Zest Tannoy Software * Zest Soundtrack file * High Quality version of Trailer 1 * High Quality version of Trailer 2 * Bonus Zest Desktop Wallpaper http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/download.php?id=140356 =================================== OTHER DOWNLOADS: =================================== 1: ZEST PHOTO ARCHIVE Worried where the huge archive of Zest Photos has gone? You can choose from three announcements, (although I do wish it was more), and these can either be triggered as the user requires or through an auto thirty second randomiser. The main wave is the full Zest Soundtrack which some of you may have been privileged enough to download, and every time an announcement is relayed this is automatically dipped to the required level. When I was originally designing the Zest Tannoy, it was my intention to create a program that could run at the same time as the no limits sim. To date I have never managed to do this on my PC but once the Tannoy is downloaded you are welcome to try yourself and see if your PC will let you. Personally, I have recorded a wav file while running the tannoy using windows sound recorder and replayed this file in i-tunes which works fine. The link in the 'OTHER DOWNLOADS' section above will take you to the Zest Tannoy Download page. When you reach it scroll down until you see a 50 second countdown. After 50 seconds this becomes a save link, so click on it and save the program at a suitable place on your computer. If using FireFox select open rather than save if you wish. Microsoft Internet explorer must remember where they have placed the download on their hard drive so they can navigate to open it. To open the program double left click as you would expect to. Once open your first port of call should be the help button which will guide you through what to do. It is key to note that the main wave must be ON if announcements are to be made. The download link can be found in the OTHER DOWNLOADS section above. =================================== CONTACT/PROBLEMS =================================== If you have any problems please do contact me either via forums:- http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=350836 Or Via e-mail :- jrrcoasterfan@hotmail.co.uk Alternatively add me on myspace: http://www.myspace.com/jrrcoasterfan =================================== OVERVIEW =================================== Zest began as a tiny side project between larger commitments and grew into something quite unusual. It is a ride that can only be described as 'different.' =================================== HISTORY =================================== Originally designed as a coaster for the fairground circuit, the 'Zest' which I now know has maintained all of its original compactness, but its character has grown in stature through extensive scenery work and more permanent support work. =================================== WALK THROUGH =================================== Its setting is beautiful. The portion of the ride from station to lift hill swoops a delighted car through a lush fruit plantation where lemons and oranges abound among more exotic plants. Each car is beautifully textured to fit in with the theme of exports, and crates of packed goods wait on hoists and upon the ground ready to be transported abroad. The first half loop is enough to put a spring in any-one's step, and leads nicely into the first over backed turn, supported by the large palm tree which overshadows the back of the ride. On then through the wooden hut and into the Zest tunnel, playfully lit in beams of yellow and green light. Zest explodes through the end of the zest tunnel with more energy than you can shake a lemon at, before completing the second over banked turn and onto the break run. The final portion of the ride reminds us all that a good coaster is often one that knows it size: zest packs so much into the remaining space that it is a miracle it all comes together. =================================== THE QUEUE LINE =================================== The queue line is coming together well, intermingling with the ride and playing with it, providing the rider with a true thrill and sensation before they even step onto the ride itself. =================================== TECHNICAL STUFF: =================================== NO OF TRAINS: 3 BLOCK COUNT: 4 LIFTS: 1 (REVERSE HUMPTY-DUMPTY)(Friction wheels and chain) ROTATING TRACK 1 (FICTIONAL) BREAK RUNS: 1 STATIONS: 1(IN TWO SEGMENTS) LENGTH: 521.78m INVESIONS 3 =================================== SPONSERSHIP =================================== Sponsored by the fictional Lim-Lime Fruit Company of North Tamping =================================== CUSTOM ZEST ONRIDE PHOTO'S **** =================================== Get snapping! Would you like your own onride zest photo like the ones displayed here? I didn't know you could build queue lines and fences and things in No Limits. [Gerstlcrazy]- Sounds awesome! You're doin' a great job with this.Hot damn, I'm so excited for this ride! Looks very cool, and you're getting pretty realistic with it. The wiring, the side show, the promotion symbols, and the joke-posters (good or not) are all cool. [CoasterStreak]- I LOVE the scenery! It looks so tropical and slightly like the jungle in a way! [BreezinUp]- It looks like a thrilling piece of machinery. [halo364]- Wow. You uploaded a lot of pics! can't wait to see it done. [TConwell]- Very twisted design! Looks like a load of fun. [lakeccrunner] Amazing! This is probably one of the most unique concepts I've ever seen [coaster-fanatic-06] I love this coaster. lol . Great job on it! It's soooooo compact which is a lot harder to do than creating more spread out coasters obviously but you just completely threw that outta the window. I love the lift btw different!! Keep it up! =================================== THANKYOU'S =================================== Firstly to everyone who contributed via the Zest Threads in various forums, from which I look forward to a lot more feedback. I know I still need to really work on my transitions in the future. A huge thank you to David N Goodman for allowing me to use several of his tree/plant models in this project. These can all be found at http://www.max-realms.com/ The Zest sound track is brought to you with the help of Tim Parry who donated the original track, an awesome dude who let me use some of his work! Thanks Tim! Thanks to Xascher for the Video work and advice. The whole of the Theme Park Review community for their excellent support and interest. Sean for his contribution. To all my friends who acted as Zest coaster riders : Nia, Ben, Fudge, Reb, Rob, Carys, and Ursi. To all my friends who have let me blab on about coasters and theme parks - sorry If I've bored you all to death. Thanks to all those who bothered to e-mail me / add me on my space to try out the Zest Tannoy software A final thanks to my good friend 'Zest Pumpy Guy' :) the biggest critic in the world; but he does make me smile sometimes too! |
